“Oh sweet mother of God.”
Yep. That’s what came out of my mouth today. One of those expressions that slips out when words fail — and today, they really did.
Because what have I just done?
I told Red FM, live on air, that I have a blog.
My blog.
And that I’m launching it today.
I’ve been working on this recovery blog since Day One of my healing journey. It’s been my lifeline, my way to process the chaos, the pain, the small victories, and my messy recovery. Writing has kept me moving forward, and deep down I’ve always hoped it might help someone else navigating their own healing journey.
But would I ever have actually shared it? Probably not.
Until… live radio happened.
Cue me chewing Neil Prendeville’s ear off for 18 minutes and he was so so lovely to me.
Cue me suddenly blurting out my blog launch.
Cue Neil giving a slightly hysterical smile.
Then, two minutes later, my phone pings:
“Marie, my mum said you were on the radio! She sent me the link to your website!”
My website?!
Oh sweet mother of God.
Nothing was in draft mode. Everything was live.
Half-finished posts. Raw ramblings. Not a bit of SEO optimization done. For anyone that does not know what that means cause I didnt until a few days ago, it is about making your website more visible so people can find you easier. Good lord!!
I called Paul. We laughed until we cried.
The old me would have panicked, rewritten every word, chased perfection.
The new me? I’m learning to let go, to embrace messy recovery, to accept real, imperfect personal growth.
Later, I went for my 40-step walk — my daily limit.
A neighbour pulled over and said:
“I heard you on the radio!”
I laughed again. I honestly didn’t think anyone would be listening at 11:30 a.m.
But maybe the right people always hear you when you’re finally ready to share your recovery journey.
So here it is. Messy. Real. Live. Just like me.
Oh sweet mother of God, my recovery blog is officially launched.
Watch this space for the 60 days of diary entries that will be published along with the rest of my journey but for now PHYSIO is calling!!
Takeaways from Today
- You don’t need to be perfect to start.
- Honesty connects people more deeply than perfection ever could.
- Courage often looks like chaos at first.
- Sometimes life makes you go live before you’re ready — and that’s exactly when you should.
“Start before you’re ready. The universe loves a brave beginner.”
